Many international students may not be aware and will be surprised by the affordable costs of the regional universities in the South and Midwest US.

Schools that have the lowest tuition fees for international students

US universities usually charge a higher tuition fee to out-of-state or international students and the cost to study in the U.S. may be steep if travel, visas, and other miscellaneous costs are included. While heavily populated student states such as Massachusetts, California, and New York dominate when it comes to the number of international students, students looking at budget-friendly states can often find good deals in less traditional destinations. 

There are as many as 10 most affordable are regional universities located in the South and Midwest US. The annual costs for international students at these schools may vary from $28,284 to $19,754. Total costs include tuition, fees, and room and board, and sometimes health insurance and transportation too. Here is a list of 10 US universities with the lowest reported total cost for international students in 2020-21.

1. Arkansas State University

Founded in 1909, Arkansas State University is a public research university in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and spread across 1,376 acres.
